Official Arizona Centennial Legacy Buffalo Soldiers of the Arizona Territory - Ladies and Gentlemen of the Regiment, Mesa, Arizona (Independent Organization)

On December 3, 2007, a husband and wife team, Commander Fred Marable, U.S. Army, Vietnam Veteran and Arizona Veteran Hall of Fame, Class of 2016, and Deputy Commander Michelle London-Marable awarded the Harriet Tubman "Female Humanitarian Award" on February 28, 2016, founded the first Buffalo Soldiers organization in the East Valley.  We are a family organization with children who participated in this historical moment.  The organization has taken part in over 500 events.

The organization's purpose and mission are to " Keeping History Alive" by educating people about the significant contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers from 1866 to 1902, especially here in Arizona.

TYPE OF ORGANIZATION

This multicultural organization welcomes all cultures that played a significant role in settling the United States during the 1800s.  We have a duty and responsibility to represent our ancestors in the best possible light, ensuring that their legacy is preserved for future generations.

ACCOMPLISHMENT

LET THEM PROUDLY SIT EQUALLY AMONG THE HEROES WHO HELPED DEFEND, BUILD, AND SETTLE OUR GREAT NATION

Our goal is 'Respecting the Past, responding to the Present and Reaching to the Future'.  The Buffalo Soldiers AZ Territory Monument will provide a visual art, culture, heritage, and educational public statement of what is important to our community. It will serve K-12, adults and military veterans to see these brave men and women memorized.  There are a few ways that children can learn their heritage: but seeing art honoring people who look like themselves.  A rarity and a gift to every child who has that experience.  A sense of equality for children, and this monument can do that.
